Wake Shapers

Postby Old school skier 77 » Thu Jan 03, 2019 7:56 pm

Hi Everyone

Does any one on here use a wake shaper? I have a Glastron 205 with a 6.2 litre mercruiser. I was looking at the Swell Wake Shaper but I really have no idea. I like the idea of the suction caps as this will be easy to find the best position as opposed to the velcro option the Ronix has. I know wake surfing behind a stern drive is not ideal however I have the extended swim platform.

I still wouldn't recommend this mate. At surf speeds you will still be able to get in under the swimdeck and could easily fall onto or throw a limb into the prop.
On an inboard boat the prop is tucked in a lot further forward of the surf location and is right up next to the bottom of the hull. They also have a rudder behind the prop offering further protection.
On a stern drive there is bugger all protection from the prop and it is very close to where you would be surfing.

No way you would even consider surfing behind a stern drive.
Too dangerous un less you want to get rid of a few free loaders
Even with the extended platform. The leg is very close to be level with the rear of the swim deck.
