Buy New or Used? Check my list..

Postby NUTSACK » Sat Feb 06, 2021 3:51 pm

Howdy,

I’m looking at purchasing a boat for general sort of tubing, skiing, wakeboarding and whatever else..it’s just to have a bit of fun and will be the first ski boat I’ve owned..I like the idea of warranty with a new one but some of the new ones don’t have FNR or have a reco engine etc..
My dilemma is should I purchase new or something a few years old of similar price assuming the second hand boat was of higher quality when new..

For example here are a few I’m looking at..

2 new Lewis (Moomba & Prestige) for $37500 but they have a reco 5.7L Merc with soft clutch F & N
New Rolco Nirvana soft clutch $35K
New Rolco Phoenix soft clutch 330hp $40K
New Stephens Magic soft clutch 260hp $36K
2018 XFI Illusion 45Hrs FNR $42K neg
2012 ChildsPlay Comanche Chevy PCM 80Hrs FNR $37K neg
2006 Camero Legend S3 Rolco Gen3 350hp 80Hrs FNR $39500
New XFI Illusion Merc 6.2Ltr 320Hp FNR $42500

Any advice in general or things I might also need to consider on the specific models I’ve listed would be appreciated..

Thanks

Hey mate, you’ve got a good list of boats there. If it were me I would be looking for something that is already decked out with all the goodies. Personally (I’m sure someone will disagree) I would stay away from velour interior, they are great when it’s dry but cold and uncomfortable when wet. They take ages to dry too (personal opinion). And if you’ve got kids trust me everything will get wet. I have only had something to do with the Comanche and the camero, if it were me I’d be looking at the camero, price seems a bit high for a 06 model but if it’s clean and has the goodies on it it’s a boat that will do everything you want and more. Just make sure you check the gel coat all over on the older ones for cracks.

The Matrix Sorrento is a great all round boat.
