Re: New Jeep for towing?if you like endless dramas and warranty issues !
Re: New Jeep for towing?Yes, but its fast!
Re: New Jeep for towing?
5 years and 100xxxkms and not one issue with our jeep grand cherokee . Will get another one at the end of the year. What problems have you had?
Re: New Jeep for towing? My mate got done by the dodgy gear shifter issue. Bent his door back on itself. Jeep admitted it was their fault but still wouldnt pay to fix it.
Re: New Jeep for towing? That sucks. Im guessing it comes down having a good dealer that wants to fix the issues.
I must be lucky, I drive it hard and tow a my xstar regularly with it and haven't had an issue, fingers crossed until august when its time for a new one ![]()
Re: New Jeep for towing?Gotta agree with Jakeyhamer. we've had 5 years across 2 new diesel Grand Cherokees, 80000k's and no issues. Tows like a dream, goes like the clappers & at this stage wouldn't consider anything else for our needs.
Re: New Jeep for towing?
A lot of myths about cars out there, every said the old landrover discoveries were , the new colorados are . Ive had both and done 125k in both with out any major issues and im sure the new jeeps are the same. Cant wait to see how a new trackhawk goes the current SRTS go pretty well!
Re: New Jeep for towing? We've been towing our Sleekline CX22 for 18 months with a WKII Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, and as the add says, "We're gunna need a bigger boat!". Ours has been a great tow car, Tow Mode, tyre pressure monitoring, 8 speed auto and great cruising fuel economy. The big 6.4l donk loves overtaking when required.
Re: New Jeep for towing?
mate your referring to the jeeps 10 to 15 years ago.... the Jeeps these days are bloody good. I dont own one, but i would absolutely buy one in a heart beat Member 7769
Re: New Jeep for towing?Have had our Grand Cherokee diesel 3 years and just done 75,000 kms and I cant fault it. More power and torque than all the duel cab utes out there, one of the best tow vehicles out there for the money.
Re: New Jeep for towing?Ah this is good to see we were actually just looking at one of these on the weekend. Very tempted to go the SRT but I reckon the standard 5.7 v8 will probably have enough power for runs to the shopping centre

About half the people I know who have bought them in the last few years have dumped them early because they are lemons. I wouldn't touch one.
Re: New Jeep for towing?
Jeep ditched the 5.7 v8 after the a year or two because they were gutless, compared to the srt and still heavy on fuel. When I was looking between the two the v6 petrol was better on fuel, cheaper to service and probably easier to sell later down the track. not everyone wants a gas guzzling v8. Either go the srt and save your money and stick with the 6 unless you need to tow near the max of the 5.7 v8, which is 3.5 tonne. The v6 and srt are only 2.8 tonne
